I am an anthropologist, also informed by science studies, specialising in social and environmental change, with research experience in Belize, Kenya and the UK. I am a Senior Lecturer (Assoc. Prof) in Anthropology of Development at the University of Edinburgh.
My research interests include infrastructure planning; watershed interventions; and the production and use of scientific predictions and other forms of foreknowledge for environmental decision-making. Across these domains, I am interested in understanding social and material dimensions of uncertainty, translation, affect and power. My current book project “The Nature of Forecasts” examines the production, circulation and use of foresight devices in conservation, development and adaptation projects in Belize, Central America.
